Number of Vacancies: 3
Job Purpose
The Battery Field Assurance Specialist is a technical specialist within the Battery Service Assurance team, responsible for investigating, diagnosing, and resolving battery issues that have been escalated from the O&M team. The role serves as the critical technical bridge between field operations and Battery Engineering ensuring that root causes are properly identified, solutions are validated in the field, and corrective actions are embedded into approved SOPs before being handed back to O&M for execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Escalation Handling
- Receive batteries escalated from O&M that present unresolved issues despite SOP application, or new issues for which no SOP currently exists.
- Conduct initial triage and condition assessment of all escalated batteries to determine the nature and severity of the issue.
- Maintain an accurate log of all received escalations, including issue description, battery ID, source station, and current status.
Issue Identification & Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Perform detailed battery issue identification using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and data analysis.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) in collaboration with the Battery Engineering and Quality Control teams.
- Differentiate between battery-level, BMS-level, and IoT/connectivity-level faults, and route findings to the appropriate team.
- Document all findings, methodologies, and conclusions in structured RCA reports for review by Battery Engineering.
SOP Field Validation
- Receive draft SOPs from the Battery Engineering team and execute field validation testing through controlled battery sampling.
- Assess the effectiveness, practicality, and safety of proposed SOPs under real field conditions.
- Compile detailed performance reports on each SOP validation cycle and submit to Battery Engineering for review and sign-off.
- Participate in the iterative validation cycle until SOPs are confirmed effective and formally approved.
Reporting & Feedback
- Share RCA findings, field observations, and battery performance reports with Battery Engineering on a regular basis.
- Flag recurring fault patterns, systemic issues, or emerging failure modes that require Engineering-level intervention.
- Contribute technical input to continuous improvement initiatives in battery design, handling, and maintenance practices.
O&M Training & SOP Adoption
- Deliver hands-on training to O&M technicians on newly approved SOPs following Engineering sign-off.
- Monitor O&M teams during post-training execution to ensure correct and consistent SOP application.
- Identify knowledge or skills gaps within O&M teams and escalate training needs to the Service Assurance Manager.
- Support the Service Assurance Manager in tracking SOP adoption rates across field teams.
Pre-Deployment Support
- Conduct field validation testing on new battery batches prior to deployment to verify performance and compliance.
- Provide pre-deployment performance reports to Battery Engineering and Quality Engineering teams.
- Identify and escalate any pre-deployment issues to the Battery Quality Engineering team for resolution.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required;
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in battery systems, EV technology, or a related field operations environment.
- Demonstrated experience in battery testing, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of BMS architecture, CAN communication, and IoT connectivity systems.
- Experience reading and interpreting battery telemetry data and diagnostic outputs.
- Ability to work independently in field environments across multiple locations.
