Overview

A fast-growing, pan-African business is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its finance function and support strategic growth across multiple African markets. This is a board-level role for a dynamic finance leader with IPO experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and deep understanding of African business environments.

The CFO will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, driving governance and reporting, and preparing the business for potential capital market activity, including an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall financial strategy, planning, and reporting for the business across Uganda and other African operations.
• Prepare and oversee financial statements, management accounts, and regulatory filings to ensure compliance with IFRS and local standards.
• Manage treasury, capital structure, and investor relationships.
• Drive financial governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
• Partner with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives, growth planning, and market expansion across Africa.
• Lead the preparation for IPO or other capital raising activities, including liaising with auditors, lawyers, and investment banks.
• Build and mentor a high-performing finance team.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with 10+ years’ senior financial leadership experience.
• Proven IPO experience: successfully managed or supported a company through listing on a stock exchange.
• Strong understanding of the African business and regulatory environment, including multi-jurisdiction operations.
• Experience in corporate governance, risk management, and investor relations.
• Excellent strategic, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
• Prior experience in fast-growing businesses, private equity-backed or publicly listed companies preferred.
