New statistics from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) indicate that the services sector continues to be the largest employer in the country, accounting for over 47% of Uganda’s workforce. This includes jobs in transportation, retail, salons, and other service industries.
Agriculture is the second largest employer, especially in rural areas, while industry remains smaller, with around 12.6% of total employment. In urban centres like Kampala, services dominate with over 63% of jobs, while agriculture leads in rural districts.
