Purpose of the Job

Purpose of the Job To conduct high quality research and teach undergraduate, postgraduate and research students as appropriate.

Person Specification

Person Specification 1. PhD in Civil Engineering with a bias in Highways and Transportation Engineering shall be an added advantage. 2. Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering 3. Honours Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. 4. At least two (2) years’ teaching at the level of Assistant Lecturer in an Institution of Higher Learning or two (2) years of research in a reputable organization. 5. Evidence of research in the relevant field with at least two (2) newly recognized publications within the last five years in peer-reviewed journals or book chapters with ISBN Numbers.

Duties and Responsibilities

a) Prepares lectures and delivers them to undergraduate and post-graduate students.
b) Sets tests, examinations and course work.
c) Administers and invigilates tests and examinations.
d) Marks tests, course work and examinations scripts, compiles and grades examination results.
e) Guides and advises students on their academic performance.
f) Attends to non-academic challenges and refers those that need further guidance.
g) Conducts research and disseminates research findings through conferences, seminars and publications.
h) Supervises undergraduate and post graduate students undertaking research projects.
i) Conducts seminars and tutorials.
j) Contributes to the University and wider society through community service.

Purpose of the Job Assist the Senior Staff in teaching and examining undergraduate students, conducting practicals and research activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

a) Preparing lectures, practicals and conducting them to undergraduate students.
b) Setting tests, examinations and coursework according to University Standards.
c) Marking tests and examinations scripts and compiling results according to grading standards of the University.
d) Administering and invigilating tests, examinations and coursework according to University standards.
e) Supervising students undertaking research in line with the University’s guidelines and regulations.
f) Conducting research and disseminating/publishing findings.
