1. About UCF

The Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF) is a UK-registered charity (No. 1087295) and a registered NGO in Uganda that supports the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in delivering its mandate to conserve and manage Uganda’s wildlife and protected areas. UCF works in partnership with UWA to strengthen conservation through anti-poaching efforts, ranger support, infrastructure development, and community engagement, mobilising international funding to safeguard biodiversity.

Mission: To support and strengthen the protection, conservation, and sustainable management of Uganda’s wildlife and protected areas, while contributing to sustainable regional development through improved livelihoods, responsible tourism, and inclusive economic growth for current and future generations.

2. Background

As UCF continues to expand its impact, there is a growing need to strengthen its global visibility, fundraising capacity, and strategic partnerships. Effective marketing, communications, and media engagement are critical to mobilizing resources, engaging donors, and positioning UCF as a leading conservation organisation in Africa.

3. Purpose of the Role

The Marketing, Communications, and Media Manager will lead the development and implementation of an integrated communications strategy that directly supports fundraising, donor engagement, events, and organisational growth, while enhancing UCF’s brand, visibility, and influence.

  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

5. Key Deliverables

  • Annual Marketing and Communications Strategy
  • Fundraising campaign plans and performance reports
  • Donor and partnership communication materials
  • Development and Management of the UCF media channels and content calendar and multimedia outputs
  • Management of the UCF Website
  • Media coverage reports and press portfolio
  • Event communication plans and post-event reports
  • Management of International and National awareness, brand and growth platform
  • Monthly and quarterly performance dashboards

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Contribution to fundraising targets and campaign effectiveness
  • Growth in audience reach, engagement, and donor base
  • Increased media coverage and brand visibility (local and international)
  • Number and quality of partnerships supported
  • Effectiveness of event communications and conversion rates
  • Timeliness and quality of deliverables

7. Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in media and communications delivery and management
  • Proven experience in fundraising communications and campaign management
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and content development skills
  • Experience managing digital platforms and analytics tools
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with international donors and private sector partners

9. Reporting & Coordination

  • Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  • Works closely with programme, operations, and partnerships teams
  • Coordinates with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and other key stakeholders where required
  • Engages with external partners, media, and service providers
