Department: Procurement/Purchasing
Location: Nakaseke/Kapeeka, Uganda
Job Purpose:
To support the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services required for the smooth operation of Twyford International Uganda, while ensuring compliance with approved procurement policies, procedures and supplier management standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement and Purchasing
• Receive and review approved purchase requisitions from various departments.
• Source quotations from qualified and approved suppliers.
• Prepare comparative statements and purchase orders for approval.
• Ensure the timely purchase and delivery of required goods and services.
• Follow up on outstanding purchase orders and supplier deliveries.
• Ensure purchases are made in accordance with approved specifications and requirements.
2. Supplier Management
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers.
• Maintain an updated supplier database.
• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, price, delivery and service.
• Support supplier negotiations to obtain competitive prices and favourable terms.
• Maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
3. Procurement Documentation and Compliance
• Maintain accurate procurement records, including quotations, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices.
• Ensure all purchases follow the approved procurement process.
• Verify that procurement documentation is complete and properly approved.
• Support procurement audits and internal control reviews.
4. Cost and Market Analysis
• Conduct market research and price comparisons.
• Monitor market prices and availability of commonly purchased goods and services.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved purchasing efficiency.
• Support contract and supplier negotiations.
5. Coordination and Reporting
• Coordinate with Finance, Warehouse, Production, Administration and other departments to ensure procurement needs are met.
• Coordinate with the Warehouse and Receiving teams to confirm delivery of purchased goods.
• Prepare regular procurement reports.
• Track pending purchases and supplier deliveries.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma or Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
• Membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
• Experience in a manufacturing, construction, building materials or industrial environment is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/procurement systems.
