The Treasury  Manager will report directly to the Board and serve as the face of business  development and operations in Uganda. This role requires a strategic thinker  with a strong background in fintech and financial services to ensure optimal  financial health, compliance with regulatory requirements, and support for  business growth initiatives.  

Job Description:
We’re hiring a Treasury Manager to contribute to our mission of transforming  the financial landscape. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the  company’s treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity  forecasting, risk management, and financial planning. We’re looking for a  strategic thinker with a strong background in fintech and financial services to  ensure optimal financial health, compliance with regulatory requirements, and  support for business growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate  closely with finance, operations, and executive teams to manage financial  resources effectively in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily cash flows, including forecasting, monitoring, and optimizing  liquidity to meet operational needs and investment opportunities.
• Develop and implement treasury policies, procedures, and strategies to  mitigate financial risks, such as interest rate, foreign exchange, and credit  risks.
• Oversee banking relationships, negotiate terms for financial services, and  ensure efficient use of banking platforms and fintech tools for transactions.
• Prepare accurate financial reports, including cash position analyses, variance  reports, and treasury performance metrics for senior management.
• Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations,  including anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC)  standards in the fintech sector.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support funding requirements,  capital allocation, and investment decisions aligned with company goals.  • Identify and leverage fintech innovations, such as digital payment systems  and blockchain technologies, to enhance treasury efficiency.
• Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic  planning and risk assessment.
• Mentor junior treasury staff and contribute to the development of a high performance finance team.

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; a  Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CTP, ACCA) is highly  preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in treasury management,  with at least 3 years in the fintech or financial services industry.  • Proven track record in managing cash and liquidity in a dynamic  environment, preferably within electronic payments, digital banking, or  similar fintech domains.
• Strong understanding of financial instruments, risk management tools, and  regulatory frameworks in Uganda and international markets.  • Proficiency in financial software and fintech platforms (e.g., ERP systems,  treasury management systems like Kyriba or similar).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the  ability to handle complex financial data.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder  engagement.
• Commitment to ethical standards, integrity, and continuous professional  development.

Preferred Skills: 

• Experience with foreign exchange management and hedging strategies in  emerging markets.
• Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, or Python for  financial modeling).
• Knowledge of sustainable finance and ESG (Environmental, Social, and  Governance) principles in fintech.
