Ugachick Poultry Breeders Limited is hiring a Veterinary Doctor responsible for ensuring optimal poultry health, disease prevention, biosecurity compliance, and animal welfare across the company’s breeder operations. The successful candidate will also provide technical support and extension services to out-grower farmers, helping them improve flock health, productivity, and management practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the health and welfare of poultry flocks across company operations.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise vaccination and preventive health programs.
  • Enforce and monitor biosecurity protocols across farms and production facilities.
  • Analyse flock performance data and recommend interventions to improve productivity.
  • Prepare veterinary reports and maintain accurate health records.
  • Provide technical training and support to farm staff on poultry health and biosecurity.
  • Conduct regular farm visits to out-grower farmers and provide extension advisory services.
  • Train out-growers on disease prevention, vaccination, biosecurity, and best management practices.
  • Support the company’s farmer engagement and capacity-building programs.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with veterinary and animal welfare standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing poultry production and farmer success.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM) from a recognized institution.
  • Must be a licensed Veterinary Practitioner registered with the Veterinary Practitioners Council of Uganda.
  • Possession of a valid practicing license.
  • Entry Level
  • Experience working with breeder operations, commercial poultry farms, or farmer extension programs will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of poultry diseases, diagnostics, treatment, and vaccination programs.
  • Sound understanding of poultry biosecurity and animal welfare standards.
  • Excellent communication, training, and farmer engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and maintain accurate records.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
