The latest development impact report from Uganda Development Bank (UDB) has revealed that enterprises supported by the bank created 51,841 jobs in 2023 — an increase from the previous year. The majority of these jobs were temporary positions, with agriculture playing a significant role due to seasonal hiring patterns.
The report highlighted that youth make up about 64% of the new workforce, with women representing around 27% of the employed group. These figures underscore the ongoing contributions of development finance to expanding job opportunities in both rural and urban Uganda.
