PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To teach, supervise, promote research studies and disseminate research findings.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
-
A PhD in Linguistics or Literature or English.
-
Master of Arts in English and Literature or Master of Arts in Communication Studies.

At least two (2) years’ teaching at the level of Assistant Lecturer in an Institution of Higher Learning or two (2) years of research in a reputable organization.

Evidence of research in the relevant field with at least two (2) newly recognized publications within the last five years in peer-reviewed journals or book chapters with ISBN Numbers.

Bachelors of Arts in English and Literature or Bachelors of Arts in Education (Literature and English) from a recognized Institution.

Demonstrated computer literacy with online learning platforms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) To prepare lectures and conduct lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students using innovative approaches which include e-learning, to the satisfaction of the University’s Quality Assurance standards.
b) To guide and advise students on their academic performance and attend to their queries on academic issues.
c) To conduct research with peers in areas of his/her specialization among the present communities and disseminate the research findings.
d) To supervise and mentor students undertaking research in the present community.
e) To organize, attend and conduct seminars and relevant trainings.
f) To set tests, examinations and course work according to University standards and policies.
g) To mark tests and examinations scripts and compile results according to approved grading standards of the University.
h) To write and submit fundable research proposals to the government and other funding agencies.

Lecture plans prepared and Lectures delivered according to the timetable. 2. Academic guidance and counselling provided to the students. 3. Research conducted and research findings disseminated/published. 4. Students undertaking research mentored and supervised. 5. Seminars and trainings organized, attended and conducted 6. Tests, examinations and course work set, marked and results compiled. 7. Examination results graded and produced on time. 8. Fundable research proposals prepared and approved.
