An agribusiness extending its outgrower base into a new district, working with roughly four hundred smallholder households on agronomy, post-harvest handling and the record keeping that makes a contract enforceable.
Extension has been contracted out before and the results were unverifiable: visits were reported and could not be confirmed, and nobody could say what had changed in a field. That is why these are permanent posts this time and why the reporting is different.
It is a first professional post with real supervision behind it: a named supervisor works alongside you through the first quarter rather than briefing you and leaving. A motorcycle, fuel and a phone allowance come with the round, and there is a route into the agronomy team for people who want it.
Job Description
- Run demonstration plots and farmer field schools on the season calendar
- Advise on land preparation, spacing, input use and post-harvest handling
- Register households and keep production records that reconcile to what is delivered
- Collect farm data on a mobile form and submit it complete and on time
- Organise input distribution days and account for what was issued
- Flag pest and disease outbreaks early to the agronomy lead
- Follow up adoption farm by farm rather than reporting attendance

The Successful Applicant
- Diploma in Agriculture, Crop Science or a related field
- Some field exposure to smallholder farming, an attachment included
- Able to ride a motorcycle, or willing to be trained and licensed
- Comfortable with a smartphone data collection form
- Fluent in the local language of the district
- Comfortable in the field four days a week
